PALM COAST, Fla. -- The Flagler County Sheriff's Office arrested a 29-year-old man Friday after an argument with his wife escalated.
Police arrested Christopher Avellar on charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling, domestic violence battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Friday, according to a news release from Flagler County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Debra Johnson.
Johnson said deputies arrested Avellar at his father's home on Waywood Place 10:15 p.m. Friday after reports of a gun being fired in the area.
Johnson said Avellar and his wife had been arguing earlier Friday evening.
After Avellar's wife left to go to Avellar's parents home on Waywood Place, Johnson said Avellar then showed up at the home and proceeded to bang on the front door.
When Avellar's dad went outside to talk to him, Johnson said the two began to argue.
Johnson said the younger Avellar then went to his vehicle where he retrieved a .45 caliber handgun.
Witnesses told police Avellar then walked up to the home and fire the handgun one time. Johnson said at the time Avellar fired, there were six people inside the home. Deputies found a spent shell inside a cabinet in the garage, Johnson said.
Deputies arrested Avellar at the scene and then transported him to the Flagler County Inmate Facility. He is being held without bond.
