LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Columbia County man was arrested Monday following an early morning SWAT standoff in the 200 block of NE Menlo Gln.

Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputies were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance when Frederick Lee Janigan, 47, refused to come out, according to a news release.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation Unit were called to the scene and several homes near the residence were evacuated as a precaution.

After several hours of of negotiations detectives were able to convince Janigan to come out.  He was taken into custody after a brief schuffle with deputies. Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 6 a.m.

Janigan has been booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.

He faces the following charges: assault with a firearm, resisting arrest without violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A bond of $55,000 was set for Janigan.
