KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. -- State Road 21 from 315 C south to Gold Head State Park was closed earlier Friday afternoon as the Clay County Sheriff's Office investigated something resembling an explosive device.
Mary Justino, Public Information Officer for the Clay County Sheriff's Office, said a work crew called the Clay County Sheriff's Office around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon after finding something resembling an explosive device.
The device was found about four feet from the side of the road, Justino said. The device was determined by Camp Blanding personnel to be a training device only.
Deputies met the crew near SR 21 and Golden Oak Lane. Justino said police agreed the item appeared suspicious.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was headed to the location to analyze the object, but they were called off when it was discovered it was a training device.
