LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Lake City man has been arrested after police were called to his home after a complaint of "kids drinking in the street."
When Lake City police arrived early Sunday morning, they found Timmy Barfus, 38, a 15-year-old and two 17-year-olds standing around a truck in the front yard, drinking beer. Barfus is a parent, according to a news release from the Lake City Police Department.
More beer cans that had been recently consumed were found in the bed of the pick-up truck and the 15-year-old was vomiting alcohol. EMS responded to treat the boy, who was then turned over to his mother.
Barfus was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two of the juveniles were arrested for possession of alcohol by a minor and disorderly intoxication, according to the news release from the LCPD.
"As a parent, you are the single greatest influence in your child's life," said LCPD Chief Argatha Gilmore. "Your kids are over 60% less likely to drink before they are 21 if they know you don't approve."
Police reported that Barfus attempted to casually get the beer cans from the teens and pour them out without getting the officers attention, according to the release. But officers could smell the odor of alcohol on all three teenagers.
