Police and Deputies work with the community every day, but tonight they get to have a little fun while doing it!

Tuesday is "National Night Out" across the country.  The idea is get neighbors together and take a stand against crime and to help forge better police-community partnerships.

It is also a chance for police and deputies to speak to the residents they protect in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.

"It is a great thing to be able to talk to people about things other than just crime, because part of the neighborhood watch is getting to know the community," says Deputy Dean Jones with the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Clay County has 22 separate communities holding events and things should kick off  around 6:30 p.m.  If your neighborhood doesn't have anything planned, but you still want to be a part of National Night Out give their office a call and they can help you find the closest community.

Duval is pushing their National Night out until Oct. 2 due to the heat,  but Baker County is having their celebration in Memorial Park from 6-8 p.m.
