JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JEA is enticing businesses with savings and rebates to make the switch to smart lighting.
Freddie Kazalah made the move a year ago in Mandarin, changing out light fixtures, 24 altogether. Kalazah, the owner of Chow Down Alley says he estimates his savings at between 7 and 10 percent.
"It probably paid for cost of installation within a year. That is all you can ask for," said the restaurant owner.
Kalazah says his out-of-pocket expense was around $600 dollars with the rebate covering the additional expense.
Now instead of four-bulb fixtures there are two bulbs that are more efficient.
"Made a difference as far as brightness produced on our counters, our food, on our produce," said Kalazah who noted in the restaurant business, that has value.
