JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --A man was arrested for burglary after he rammed a shopping cart through the glass front door of a Family Dollar early Tuesday morning.

Michael Fields, 55, was seen walking around in the parking lot of the Family Dollar at 5229 Normandy Boulevard by two male employees around 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report.

The employees did not think anything of it and went back to work until 3:30 a.m., when they heard banging at the front door. When they came to the front of the store, they saw Fields ram a shopping cart through the glass front door.

The two employees ran through the glass and chased the suspect down Normandy Boulevard. One of the employees told Fields that the police had been called. Fields became angry and began advanced toward this employee, the report stated.

This employee proceeded to punch Fields several times because he feared that he would be harmed. That same employee then flagged down JSO officers that were driving past.

Fields told officers he did not try to break into the store -- he was just walking past when the employee tried to attack him.

An officer then watched the video and observed Fields ram the shopping cart through the front door. While being arrested, Fields continued to yell and threatened to "kick their (expletive)."
