JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man has been jailed for allegedly stealing a payphone off the wall of a local business.

James Davis Connell, 28, allegedly pulled up to a payphone at the Best Way Food Store on North Edgewood Avenue and used a white van to pull it off the wall, according to a police report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Connell was later spotted at a car maintenance garage in one of the bays, "grinding on the pay phone," in an attempt to open it, the report states.

When questioned by JSO, Connell stated, "he just needed some cigarette money."

Connell was booked into the Duval County Jail and is currently being held on a bond of $5,003.
