JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JEA is sending crews to Savannah, Ga., to help restore power to residents who are without as a result of this weekend's storms.

JEA will send 45 linemen and workers to Savannah. The crews will leave this afternoon from the JEA's Southside Service Station.

The heat and power outages caused two cooling stations to be opened in Savannah.

WSAV, the NBC affiliate in Savannah, reported there are as many as 19,500 outages in the Savannah area due to 298 separate events of outages. The outages are caused by anything from transformers blowing to limbs on wires.
