COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. --Some fast acting Columbia County residents are being credited with helping to save a girl swept away by flood waters.

Wednesday a girl was swept away by flood waters caused by Tropical Storm Debby in the area of Falling Creek Road.
Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputies and officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were dispatched to rescue the girl.
The girl was swept out of her yard and hanging onto a tree when two residents in a boat were able to help the girl until rescue crews arrived.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said they are grateful to their always helpful neighbors for their swift action and launching their boat to save the girl.
