JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Some may call this a press conference. But seeing all the people and ice cold refreshment, others may call it a party.
Everyone was on hand for the guest of honor, the birthday boy: the City of Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Historical Society held a birthday celebration.
It's been 190 years since the founding by Isaiah D. Hart.
Dan Dearing, the five great grandson of Jacksonville's original founder Isaiah D. Hart, was on hand for the celebration.
"50 is diamond or gold. I'm not sure what the 190th is. Apparently it's a big plaque," Dearing said.
The party was held where the original town survey was drawn, at the corner of Bay and Market streets.
What will the historical society do for 200?
"200 is gonna be huge," Dearing said. "This is the beginning of a 10 year pre-party."
