JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville police are trying to find a man who shot a wild goose in an empty lot, then drove off.

Just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, a Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer responded to a call about the shooting, which happened in the 2000 block of Janelle Lane.

A witness said that a black man in his 20s wearing black pants and a black shirt shot a wild goose four times with a small handgun.

The witness then yelled at the man and he drove off in a gold Chevy Caprice, but she was not able to obtain his tag number.

The goose died, and the officer recovered four spent .380 caliber shell casings in the field of the empty lot.

The man is charged with cruelty to animals and discharging a firearm in public.
