30,000 Easter eggs up for grabs Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Grab your largest Easter basket this Saturday morning as you head to the Great Spring Egg Hunt at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. Thirty-thousand eggs will be up for grabs.

This annual egg hunt is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the zoo's Great Lawn.

The hunt will be broken up by age group: kids age 3 and younger will hunt at 10 a.m., 4-6 year olds will hunt at 11 a.m. and 7-10 year olds will get to hunt for eggs at 12 p.m.

Participants will need to bring their own baskets to scoop up eggs and other special prizes. Hoppy the rabbit and zoo mascot JaZoo the lion will also be on hand to greet the egg hunters.

According to zoo spokesperson Amy Hernden, the event will take place rain or shine, but the zoo will have a contingency plan just in case.
