21-year-old sentenced to 100 years in prison

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 21-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to 100 years in prison for several crimes he committed in 2013.

Eric Riva Muturi was convicted of many offenses including aggravated battery and attempted armed robbery.

According to the State Attorney's office, Muturi tried to rob one of the victims as he was sitting outside his apartment on Pullen Road. He forced the first victim inside the apartment and then pointed a gun at him.

Another person jumped up to aid the first victim and during a struggle, Muturi fired the gun, shooting the second victim in the leg.

The second victim managed to hold Muturi down until police arrived. The victim that was shot has recovered from his injury.
