Glynn County police said two bodies were found inside a building on St. Simons Island Monday after an apparent murder-suicide.
The incident happened at the St. Simons Island Clinic. This is on the 240 block of Redfern Village near several businesses.
Police have identified the deceased as Dr. William Nelson, 63, and Catherine Tortorete, 51. Investigators said both appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.
A neighboring business owner remembers the doctor and people that would wait in the space shared between the two offices.
"People loitering and staying there would be cars full of people in my parking lot," the man not wanting to be identified said.
Back in 2009, the Florida Times-Union reported local and federal agents raided the doctor's office at the same location. Agents were waiting for the then-owner Dr. William Nelson when he arrived for the day. Two U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Agents conducted a search of Nelson's private practice.
It is not immediately known if he still operates a private practice out of that clinic. No arrests were made in the case.
