1 teen dead following ATV crash in Lawtey, Florida

The 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl were pinned by the ATV.

One teenager has died following an crash involving an ATV in Bradford County Friday.

According to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, two teens were on an ATV that flipped over and pinned both of them.

The accident happened at NW 233rd Street and NW 38th Avenue in Lawtey, Florida, per the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Deputies said 16-year-old Madison Sams died at the scene and a 14-year-old was flown to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries. FHP doesn't know why the ATV overturned.

Neighbors reacted to the news, offering their condolences to the family.

"I'll be glad to do everything I can for that family," said Charles Starling, a neighbor. "But most of all, what they need now is our prayers and our support."

The FHP is now investigating.
