JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Over the past few weeks, Good Morning Jacksonville anchor Patricia Crosby gotten numerous calls and e-mails about a story she did concerning a learning delay, Auditory Processing Disorder, that can be confused with ADHD in children. The symptoms of APD are similar but the treatments can be different.

Interactive metronome is just one of the treatments used to help children with auditory processing disorder. To get the right treatment, you need to get the right diagnosis. Many times, these kids are diagnosed with ADHD first.
When a child isn't hearing well in class, he or she may start to tune out and lose focus. That child could get anxious or fidgety because they see other kids following instructions and they are not able to understand what the teacher is saying. That can lead to frustration and acting out.
It's important to get a specialist like a speech pathologist to test your child.
