LARGO, FL -- Ken Bryant has magic hands. That's what his patients say. People who are quadriplegics, those in comas, and patients who were told they'd never wake up or walk. Ken is changing their lives.
Is it a miracle? Or is it the ancient practice of reflexology - where the muscles are stimulated, through the nerves in the feet? Ken says it's certainly not rocket science, but rather, physics. With the use of lotion, his hands, and pressure points on the feet, he is changing lives.
He calls it Neuro Synthetic Conduction Therapy. His way of explaining it is much easier to take in, The nerves are almost like a lighter, consistently flicking a lighter until it turns on.
Lexi Antorino is one of his miracles.
She is the 2-year-old little girl who went into a coma after a swing set fell on her, crushing her skull December 9, 2007. She has never woken up. Until now. She grabbed my finger, Ken said. She reached out and grabbed my finger. She turns and looks at you and smiles. His treatment seems to be working.
Did we mention Ken is blind? He says his gift of touch actually came from his disability. After a genetic dysfunction, he went blind back in 1992. It is his gift, he says, that keeps him going. Everytime we work on her, she gets better and better and better and more responsive
Ken began working on Lexi in late January. He heard about her story, called her mother and began working with her continuously. Every day, night, even weekends. He knows he can make a difference in this little girl's life, who has been in a coma since the day she was hurt. She has a feeding tube, a ventilator, and had to have a tracheotomy.
When he works on her, it makes more movement. Sarah Antorino, Lexi's mother, is amazed by what she's seen. Every little baby step works. I think he's awesome. Sarah and her mother are hoping Ken will become a permanent visitor when Lexi comes home next Wednesday. She'll be cared for in her own home, in her own room, by nurses and family. Her mother is hoping this will aid in treatment.
As for Ken, he'll go wherever he's asked. I know that it works, and I want to help as many people as I can. The more than 3,000 people he's already helped are happy to hear it.
If you want more information about Ken's Neuro Synthetic Conduction Therapy, you can call him at 727-204-2905. Ken is a licensed massage therapist, with a concentration in reflexology. He is registered with the State of Florida, license number MA33492.
Currently, he and his wife are working on a website and opening a possible clinic.
