JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The thought might make you feel secure: You've had your mammogram and so, no need to worry for another year.
Be careful, though. Mammograms can detect tiny cancers you can't feel.
But Jacksonville resident Janice Love has discovered herself that mammos aren't enough. She had a mammogram in January and was told nothing suspicious showed up.
Then in April, she found her own lump doing a self exam as a faithful buddy in Buddy Check 12. It was breast cancer.
Janice said she is grateful to be a survivor. Family members say Janice is a role model to them - a lady who is always truthful and always dignified.
If you want a free Buddy Check 12 kit mailed to you or someone you care about anywhere in the world, just call our partner, Baptist Health, at 904-202-CARE.
