ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott spoke Monday at around 10:30 a.m. at Castillo De San Marcos in St. Augustine.
With Mayor Nancy Shaver was in attendance Scott had one major message: "St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach is absolutely open for business."
"This is one of the nicest cities to visit in the world," said Scott. He said we had a horrible storm, but St. Augustine is up and running and he encourages tourists to please visit.
"I'm going to do everything I can at the state level," said Scott, "to help you get back to normal."
Scott said he is asking President Obama to approve St. Augustine and surrounding counties for Individual Assistance so they can receive federal funds to help with Hurricane Matthew relief. Scott hopes that the President will announce today Individual Assistance for some of the counties.
