GLYNN COUNTY, GA -- FBI agents arrested Russel Earl Miller on Thursday, after finding child pornography pictures in his North Carolina Home.
Miller was a volunteer in the youth ministry at Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was on a trip with some children from the church to Jekyll Island, Georgia when he was arrested. The group was going to help repair a home for the youth.
While Miller was in Georgia, FBI agents went to his home in Charlotte with a search warrant. Inside they found dozens of pornographic pictures of female children. The girls were between the ages of 8 and 12 and posed in sexually explicit positions.
Two of the girls in the pictures were also on the trip with Miller to Jekyll Island.
FBI agents also discovered nearly 195 pairs of girl's underwear and 7 training bras. Miller's wife identified some of the clothing items found with names and dates in what she identified as his handwriting.
The FBI tracked Miller to the Summer Waves Water Park in Jekyll Island. They caught up with him at the park on Thursday, when they arrested him, and brought the children home to Charlotte.
The pastor of Myers Park Presbyterian, Steve Eason, says that his church has a strict child protection policy. He said that at no time are children ever alone with an adult, which made these allegations even more disturbing.
He also said, "We support everyone in our church, we are devastated by the news, and we are praying for the miller family." Miller is currently being held in the Glynn County Detention Center.
