20-year-old Raymond Michael Brasiel appears in court for murder and aggravated assault charges.
BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- The man Glynn County Police say is the suspect in Amber Whited's death appeared in court Monday afternoon for two separate charges in an unrelated double stabbing.
"I want to go to trial," said Raymond Michael Brasiel as the Judge was reading Brasiel his rights.
20-year-old Brasiel appeared in court for the murder and aggravated assault charges against him stemming from a double stabbing off Old Post Road Friday that killed one man and left one woman injured.
Brasiel was arrested Friday for the double stabbing. On Sunday, the Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering named him as the suspect in the murder of 22-year-old Amber Whited. Whited was reported missing Tuesday and on Sunday while investigators were trying to get information from some of Braisel's relatives, they found Whited's body in a wooded area off Bladen Road and Highway 99.
Doering won't say how Brasiel is linked to Whited's death or if he knew her, but said a murder charge is forthcoming. The victim's grandmother said the family was hoping for a different kind of closure.
"I thought the good Lord let us have my great grandson back when they said he wasn't going to make it so I thought he was going to be nice to us again and let us have the closure with Amber and have Amber come back alive, but it didn't work out that way. We just have to keep on hoping and praying," said Edith Whited, the victim's grandmother.
The family thanks the community for helping search for Whited. Brasiel's next hearing will be scheduled for next Friday.
