MACON, Ga. -- A man accused of drenching his ex-fiancée with gasoline and lighting her on fire has pleaded guilty to murder and arson.

The Telegraph of Macon reports prosecutors sought the death penalty against 36-year-old Jomeka Pope in the Aug. 7, 2005 death of 26-year-old LaTosha Taylor.

Authorities say the woman was hospitalized in a burn unit for 55 days before she died of her injuries.

Officials say Pope is likely to be sentenced Monday and could be sentenced to life in prison.
