AUGUSTA, Ga. -- An Augusta fire station is open again after being closed to repair damage when part of it collapsed on a fire truck as it left the building to respond to a call.
The Augusta Chronicle reports that Augusta-Richmond County Fire Station No. 9 reopened Monday.
On June 25, a fire engine leaving Station 9 for a call hit the center column between the garage doors, causing much of the front of the building to collapse. Authorities say another engine company picked the call up and responded immediately.
Fire officials transferred crews to other stations while officials assessed and repaired the damage.
