EAST POINT, Ga. -- Authorities say U.S. marshals shot and wounded a man while executing an arrest warrant at a hotel near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
East Point police tell The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force went to a room at the Crowne Plaza early Wednesday morning. Police say they were attempting to arrest a man wanted for the sale of methamphetamine and possession of explosives.
East Point police Sgt. Allyn Glover says officers confirmed the suspect was in a hotel room, and didn't get an answer at the door. Glover says the marshals then broke through the door, and were confronted by the suspect who was armed with a handgun.
The suspect, whose name wasn't released, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
