MARIETTA, Ga. -- Marietta police say they're investigating a serious traffic accident that injured one of the department's officers.
    
Police say Officer James McClure was attempting to stop traffic on Canton Road Connector to allow an emergency vehicle to leave the scene of a Thursday afternoon wreck.
    
Police say McClure signaled traffic to stop when a silver Nissan Titan struck a black Ford F-150 pickup truck. The collision from the Nissan Titan caused the Ford F-150 to strike the officer, who was unable to get out of the path of the accident.
    
The 26-year-old officer was taken to Kennestone Hospital, where he was being treated for serious but non-life threating injuries. No other injuries were reported from the accident.
    
Marietta is about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta.
