SAVANNAH, Ga. -- A volunteer firefighter died Monday morning at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah after being shot outside a lounge in the Sandfly community near Savannah.
    
The Savannah Morning News reports that 21-year-old Wesley Franklin died after being shot outside Deb's Pub and Grub about 2 a.m. Sunday. He was a volunteer firefight with Isle of Hope Fire Department, Assistant Chief Marcus Wilson said.
    
Franklin was shot when went outside the lounge after he heard a gunshot, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller said.
    
Police believe Franklin saw a man who was attempting to rob a patrons outside the lounge.
