KINGSLAND, Ga. -- A former mayor of Kingsland was killed in a single-car crash on I-95.

Samuel "Keith" Dixon, 56, was killed near mile marker 1 on I-95.

His 2011 Dodge Ram pick-up was traveling northbound in the far left lane when for unknown reasons, Dixon lost control of his truck.  The Dodge spun over 300 feet, according to the Georgia State Patrol, spinning into the left hand emergency lane.

The truck crossed all 3 lanes, left the interstate on the Eastbound side, then rotated another 200 feet before overturning along the treeline.  Dixon, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

Dixon was taken to Camden Medical Center by Camden County Emergency Medical Services.  He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The Georgia State Patrol said they do not believe alcohol to be involved in the crash.

At the time of the crash, police said, the rain had not yet started so wet roads are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
