ALANTA, Ga. -- A neurosurgeon famous for his work separating conjoined twins will speak at Emory University's graduation this spring.
Dr. Benjamin Carson, a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, will address the graduating class at Emory's commencement on May 14. Carson won the President Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the country, in 2008.
He has directed the pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center for more than 25 years and is a professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery and pediatrics.
In 1987, Carson performed the first and only separation of twins joined at the back of the head.
The private Atlanta university expects to have about 3,700 graduates in May.
