MARIETTA, Ga. -- A public hearing on public transportation options is planned for Tuesday in one of Georgia's largest counties.

Cobb County residents are being asked to provide their input on a study that will help determine the type of public transportation to connect the county with Atlanta. Light rail and bus service are among options being considered.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports that Cobb County commissioners will hold the public hearing before hiring a consultant to develop a draft environmental impact statement for the Northwest Atlanta Corridor Alternatives Analysis Study.

The study involves transportation in the Interstate 75 and U.S. Highway 41 corridor.

The hearing is set for 9 a.m. at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta.
