JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Governor Crist is considering another special session for Florida lawmakers.
The session would focus on an auto insurance law that may expire.
"I favor the continuance of the personal injury protection," said Crist. "I know may in the hospital field fell it?s important in terms of healthcare. It?s important to me. I would view favorably a special session before October 1."
Lobbyists for the hospital industry Tuesday asked Crist to call the session.
The Florida No-Fault law requires drivers to purchase Personal Injury Protection, which pays up to a maximum of $10,000, regardless of fault, for injuries caused in an automobile crash.
Hospitals rely on the mandatory medical coverage provided by auto insurers to help pay for care provided to accident victims, especially those without health insurance.
