TAMPA, FL -- The story of Kaleb Schwade shifted from the Internet to a courtroom. Kaleb is the five-month-old boy shaken and critically injured, allegedly at the hands of a daycare owner.

His story brought national sympathy and donations after Kaleb's mother started blogging the incident on MySpace. Today, both women faced a judge.

Rebecca Saunders appeared in court for her arraignment, even though she could have entered a plea through her attorney.

Leon Jones represents Saunders and said, "She understands that the child's family is going to be here, but she wants people who see this to show her face, because she knows she did not do anything wrong."

Kaleb's parents ? Josh and Kristy ? made sure their faces were seen, too. They wouldn't talk on camera, but a family friend told us Kaleb is doing well, considering he's still heavily medicated on anti-seizure drugs.

According to Dianne Cueto, "His responses are vague, but they're there. He responds to some music, by turning his head or raising his arm or something. He wimpers a little bit ? which is a good response."

Thousands of people are learning of Kaleb's progress on his mother's MySpace page. Her blog is one of the website's most popular.

Saunders' attorney feels the case needs to play out in a courtroom, rather than in a court of public opinion, "The problem with blogs and MySpace is that there are not checks and balances on it. I could have my client put up a website and blog and say all these kinds of things in response to what's being said about her... but what does that do? It doesn't do anything."

Saunders entered a 'not guilty' plea to aggravated child abuse. Her trial is scheduled for October.

The Schwades say Kaleb was fine when they dropped him off at daycare, but was lethargic and had trouble breathing when they picked him up.

Saunders denies anything happened while she cared for him.
