LAKELAND, FL (AP) -- Authorities say two people were killed when a small airplane crashed near the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. The airport is located about halfway between Orlando and Tampa. It is hosting an annual air show starting today, but there was no word on whether the plane that crashed yesterday was connected to it.
Officials say two Ohio men -- Terrence Albert Sack and Roger Caldwell -- were both reported overdue to arrive at the airport by their wives. While positive identification of the victims was to be made by the medical examiner's office, identification for both men was discovered at the crash site.
The crash occurred just east of the airport. A small barn was damaged as a result of the crash.
