TALLAHASSEE, FL (AP) -- Getting unsolicited telephone calls was the top consumer complaint received by the Florida Division of Consumer Services this year.

The state's consumer hot line received amore than 47-hundred complaints about "Do Not Call" violations. That's six-hundred more than last year.

Those complaints led to more than 125-thousand ($125,800) dollars in fines against telemarketers.

Problems with vacation and travel plans was number two on the list of complaints, followed by vehicle repair and construction complaints.

State spokeswoman Liz Compton attributes the increase in construction complaints to all of the repairs from the two previous hurricane seasons.

Overall, the Division of Consumer Services received a total of 28-thousand written complaints in 2006. Those complaints led to more than 6 million dollars in refunds and services for consumers. That's a million more than a year ago.
