Baby Recovering at Hospital

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A 16-month-old baby boy is recovering in a hospital after being thrown out of a car during an accident, and landing underneath a house.

His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

The driver of a maroon Jeep Liberty ran a stop sign on 12th Avenue South and slammed into the driver's side of a Ford Taurus on 48th Street South on Monday night.

Police say 16-month-old J'Marion Wright was not buckled into his car seat and was thrown about 15 feet underneath a house.

Officer Scott Cameron crawled under and gave the baby CPR.

"The child was actually very lucky, with the length that it went airborne and this one little spot underneath the house that it had fit into," said Cameron. "Just one of those things where you guess someone was with him the whole time."
