Hernando County Has Eight Lottery Winners in Past Nine Months

SPRING HILL, FL (AP) -- Hernando County just keeps getting lucky. The small, mostly rural county north of Tampa now boasts eight Florida Lottery winners in the past nine months.

The string began in late December when a Spring Hill woman won the one million dollar "Cash for the Holidays" New Year's Eve drawing. Most recently, George Hresko of Hudson matched all the numbers in the Fantasy Five drawing Monday, winning over $220,000.

The eight winners have taken home prizes ranging from $200,000 to $3 million. Not bad for a county with 158,000 people best known for its vast nature preserves and the live mermaid shows in tiny Weeki Wachee.
