SANFORD, FL (AP) -- An Altamonte Springs woman is accused of using the Internet to harass a popular Florida author.

Randy Wayne White is known for a series of mysteries based on the character Doc Ford, a former secret agent and biologist on Florida's southwest coast. White says he first heard from Debby Wilbanks two years ago. She accused him in an instant message of having an online affair with her.

The Florida author says Wilbanks then began posting defamatory messages about him on Web sites. In one of the online postings, she wrote that she wanted to warn Florida women about the novelist because he "uses your life stories to put into his novels."

Seminole County deputies arrested Wilbanks yesterday at her apartment. She is accused of cyberstalking. White's most recent book, "Dead of Night," was published in March.
