TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida's free fishing days have been so popular, now the state is giving you four more days of license-free fishing this year.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission voted Thursday to add four license-free fishing days before the end of the year.
That means you'll be able to fish without a license in freshwater on Friday November 29 and Saturday December 28.
The license-free saltwater days are October 12 and November 30, both on Saturday.
The commission also set aside eight days of free fishing in 2014.
The idea behind free fishing days is to encourage more folks to take advantage of Florida's great fishing. Anyone can cast a line on those days without buying the usual $17 fishing license.
Here are the free fishing days in 2014 and beyond:
License-free freshwater days:
-First Saturday and Sunday in April
-Second Saturday and Sunday in June
License-free saltwater days:
-First Saturday and Sunday in June
-First Saturday in September
-Saturday following Thanksgiving
