JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a red Chrysler vehicle on Interstate-75 Thursday around 11:00 a.m.
Instead of stopping, the vehicle attempted to strike the police car, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The vehicle then exited the highway at State Road 47 and lost control of the vehicle, the report detailed. The vehicle struck a stop sign and traveled across westbound and eastbound lanes before stopping at the shoulder of the road.
According to the police report, the alleged driver Heath Sanchez, 29, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Sanchez was apprehended and taken into custody.
During the investigation, police found that the car was reported stolen on May 15 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Police have identified the other two suspects in the vehicle as Mathew Ladd, 24, and Lynette Lee, 20. The report detailed, that Ladd has an arrest warrant in Tennessee for burglary including a $100,000 bond.
All three suspects are being charged with grand theft as well as possession of marijuana and stolen property. Sanchez is also being charged with multiple traffic infractions, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, DUI, and driving with a suspended or revoked licensed.
The FHP conferred with the Knoxville Police Department and believed the suspects are involved in multiple commercial burglaries.
