DELTONA, Fla. -- Deputies arrested a central Florida couple after their 6-year-old son told a neighbor he had been locked out of the house and forced to sleep on the porch.
    
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office reports a neighbor called them early Sunday after the boy knocked on the door. He gave the child a blanket and potato chips.
    
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the child told deputies he had been forced to sleep on the back porch for three nights and only fed rice and lettuce.
    
Deputies arrested his parents, 47-year-old John Haley and 41-year-old Stephanie Haley. They're charged with felony child neglect and both remained in the Volusia County Jail early Monday.
    
The Department of Children and Families took custody of the other six children at the home.
