PINE HILLS, Fla. -- A teenager who was shot as her family drove home from church remains in critical condition in Orlando.
Orange County Sheriff's officials say 15-year-old Danielle Sampson was in the backseat of her parents' minivan Sunday evening when she was struck by a bullet from a passing motorist.
The family was driving home from church, where they had been celebrating her mother's birthday.
The Orlando Sentinel reports deputies are searching for two vehicles thought to be involved in the shooting - a charcoal SUV and a tan sedan.
The girl's father was driving when he heard several gunshots. The newspaper reports that as he turned to get away from the gunfire, a bullet hit the van's window near where the girl was sitting.
