ORLANDO, Fla. -- Fire officials say an Orlando motel guest died after being trapped in a room that went up in flames.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that firefighters started evacuating the Country Side Inn & Suites about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after they saw flames coming from a second floor room.

Orlando Fire Rescue spokeswoman Genevieve Latham says the fire quickly spread to adjacent rooms but firefighters extinguished it within 15 minutes. She says two people were inside the room, but one escaped unharmed.

Officials say about 30 people were displaced by the fire at the extended stay motel. Hotel management relocated guest to another building on the property near Interstate 4.

The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.

The victim's name has not been released.
