ORLANDO, Fla. -- A former Orange County commissioner has been sentenced to almost two years in prison in a public corruption case.

Mildred Fernandez received more than 22 months in prison during a sentencing hearing Thursday in Orlando.

Fernandez pleaded no contest last November to a count of receipt of unlawful compensation for official behavior and seven other counts. The other counts included acceptance of illegal campaign contributions and certifying a false campaign finance report.

Her attorney had argued that Fernandez was entrapped by law enforcement officers in an undercover operation.
