Homestead, F.L. - Authorities say a South Florida police officer fatally shot a 16-year-old suspect at a gas station convenience store.
Miami-Dade police say the Homestead officer responded to the Chevron station Thursday night after a clerk pushed an alarm panic button. Officials say the officer repeatedly ordered Danny Cruz to show his hands before firing.
According to the Miami Herald, investigators found a .380 handgun in Cruz's right jacket pocket.
The officer has been placed on administrative duty, which is routine for police shootings.
