JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Starting a new school can be difficult but one First Coast student is making it look easy.
Zach Bell, a fifth-grader at San Mateo Elementary, loves math. "It does get hard sometimes, but I still do love it."
Bell is halfway through his first year at a public school.
"I was more nervous that I wouldn't know anyone," Bell said. "It was really different when I came here than what I thought it would be."
He was surprised to be nominated for Student of the Week, saying he knows many other students who also deserve the recognition. Many of them helped him adjust when he came to the new school.
"It's really different, like when I first came they were talking about the FCAT and I didn't know what that was at all."
The 11-year-old said his teachers and peers have helped him, and he helps them. "The student body, we're all family, really. We all know each other, we all help each other."
