PERRY, Ga. (AP) - A south Georgia library is asking customers to help with its temporary move and renovation by taking home up to 50 books apiece.
The Macon Telegraph reports the public library in Perry is shutting down for 10 months to undergo $2.4 million worth of construction and renovation work. A temporary location will open in a few weeks.
The director of the Houston County Public Library System, J. Sara Paulk, says the library let people check out as many as 50 books before the main site closed Saturday so that employees and volunteers would have fewer books to move.
And it will be a while before any late fees on those books start accumulating. They won't be due back at the temporary library until Sept. 4.
