JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Nicole Phenneger teaches in not just one, but two languages. Her classroom at Beauclerc Elementary School is not your average kindergarten classroom; she's part of Duval County Public Schools' Dual Language Team.
Phenneger partners with another teacher to teach the students to become fluent in both English and Spanish.
"She's nice and I love her because she's the best teacher in the whole, wide world," said student Skylar.
Even though her students all have different language backgrounds, in Phenneger's classroom, they only speak Spanish.
"A lot of them have never heard a word of Spanish when they started the program," Phenneger explains. "It's incredible what they learn in just a couple of months. I have a couple of students who came knowing nothing and now can read fluently in Spanish."
"Ms. Phenneger always works with us and be good and always tells someone to listen," said student Macarena.
This is Phenneger's third year teaching, but her first year in the Dual-Language program.
She also has a master's degree in technology.
