JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Duval County's new Superintendent of Schools, Nikolai Vitti, will hold a breakfast meeting with the school board this morning.
Vitti began his new position with the school district on Monday and immediately addressed what he sees as the biggest challenges for Duval County.
Vitti said he will work to improve low literacy rates by focusing on early childhood education. He said he will fight to move low performing schools off the state's list and work to secure more funding for capital improvements in what he described as an aging infrastructure.
Vitti's breakfast with the board will be held at the schools' administration building at 8:00 a.m.
