JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Education released high school graduation and dropout rates that shows a 4.6 percent jump in the number of Duval County students who graduate within four years.
The graduation rate for Duval County is 71.2 percent with the high school dropout rate measured at 2.3 percent.

"The gains in our graduation rate are proof that Duval County Public Schools is on its way to becoming the best large urban district in the country," said Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals in a news release issued by the district.
"This is especially noteworthy given that DCPS has the highest graduation requirements in the state," said Pratt-Dannals in a statement.
Florida's graduation rate is 80.1 percent which represents a one percent increase from last year.
In Duval County, Forrest High School saw its graduation rate jump by 18.7 percent with Station College Prep recognized for having 99 percent of its students graduating in 2011.
