PALM BAY, Fla. -- A 4-month-old puppy is currently recovering after Brevard County Sheriff's Office Deputies say Jerry Volcimus left his dog locked in a crate in a hot garage.
According to deputies, their Animal Enforcement Unit received an anonymous complaint about a dog in Palm Bay that was sitting on a porch with it's face covered in blood.
Officials found that puppy, Wolfie, emaciated with a severe case of mange and extremely malnourished.
Following an appointment with a local vet, Wolfie was listed in extremely critical condition.
"Fortunately, because of the quick actions of a concerned citizen and the Animal Enforcement Officers Wolfie received the care he needed from our Veterinarian Team and is now in a loving home where as you can see from the photo he is recovering very well," the Sheriff's Office wrote.
Volcimus was taken into custody by members of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office South Precinct and was transported to the Brevard County Jail.
The sheriff's office wrote, "I want to truly commend the citizen who followed our community's mantra of "see something/say something" and in doing so saved this dog's life while helping to get a heartless criminal off our street."
